Soft pinks, pale blues, and warm earth tones move across the mountain forms in The Sun Still Rises. Layered washes and oil glazes allow the colors to shift between peaks and sky, while loose lines and visible marks leave room for your own interpretation.
Painted on site, en plein air, this piece takes a more abstract approach to the landscape. Rather than describing every ridge and contour, it follows the movement of color, light, and the shapes in front of me. It brings home the feeling of being surrounded by mountains, with details that reveal themselves as you spend time with the painting.
