Meet Kelly Peters
I’m a visual artist based in Colorado, but I actually grew up skiing in the Detroit suburbs (yes, Detroit has “ski hills” — sort of). What started as one winter in Aspen as a ski bum turned into following my intuition, building a thriving art business, and creating a life rooted in the mountains.
I paint because I want to hold onto the feeling you get outside here — calm, movement, and light — and bring that into people’s homes. My current body of work focuses on landscapes around the West, and I plan to keep painting the places that inspire me most. Over the years, my art has been featured in Forbes, Condé Nast Traveler, and collected by private families, hotels, and brands like Lululemon, Rag & Bone, and Zadig & Voltaire.
My business is always evolving — from custom commissions and seasonal print drops to murals, live painting events, and workshops. Thank you for landing on my page and supporting this journey. Every piece and every project means I get to keep painting the mountains I love most — and share them with you. I’m always open to chatting, so please don’t hesitate to drop a line and say hi.

Artist Statement
Painting is my language to communicate internal emotions into an external vision. Inspired by movement in nature- the topography, geometry and textures, my creative process is a collaboration of these elements.
After studying classical oil painting techniques derived from old masters in Italy in 2015, I created the process I use now, a unique approach of layering oil and acrylic paints. Most of my paintings I start on the ground with a watered down acrylic pigment to create the washes visible in my work. Adding layer by layer of pigment, I manipulate my abstract background before moving the canvas to the easel. On the easel, I then use oils to create detail and add movement within my image. Whether working on multiple paintings at once, for a commission or for a series, I am a firm believer in observing the dynamic process of painting and allowing the image to build organically.
